ADULT SIZE: 12 cm

WATER CONDITIONS: Moderately soft and acidic

TEMPERATURE RANGE: 23-28 C

FOOD: Feed Pimelodus pictus live and dried foods

DISTRIBUTION: This species comes from Colombia, Peru

AQUARIUM CARE: One of the most popular catfish species, due to its attractive spotted pattern and long barbels. It is one of over 300 species of the Pimelodidae family. This fish is quite easy to keep, enjoying most foods, but especially keen on meaty livefoods such as white worms and earthworms. It will dig around its tank, in search of a snack, but will also eat small fish, and so should not be kept as a general community species.
Soft water is preferred by this catfish.
NB this species has sharp spines, and should be handled with care.
