WATER CONDITIONS: Very hard and alkaline

FOOD: Feed Julidochromis marlieri live and dried foods
DISTRIBUTION: This species comes from Lake Tanganyika
AQUARIUM CARE: A larger and more aggressive Julie that pairs for life. It inhabits the rocky shores of Lake Tanganyika, and as such requires a rocky aquarium with plenty of caves. Once a pair is established they can be very terratorial, so it is advisable to keep them either as a pair - or in a spaceous rift lake community. Pairing is best achieved by buying a group of young, and removing the unpaired individuals
BREEDING: Spawning occurs on a substrate inside a cave. The young can be raised with the parents.

Should I have water movement in my tank? Fish from faster flowing rivers love swimming against a current - fish from vegetation choked marshes do not. With todays box filters it is quite easy to get some good water flow for strong swimmers like Rainbowfish, whilst a spray bar attachment can completely remove this for gentler swimmers like Gouramis
